Setup Guide
Get Recall up and running in just a few minutes. Follow these simple steps to configure the required permissions.
macOS Setup
Install the App
Download and open the DMG file. Drag Recall to your Applications folder.
Open Recall.dmg → Drag to ApplicationsGrant Screen Recording Permission
This allows Recall to capture your screen for AI analysis.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording
- Click the + button and add Recall
- Enable the toggle next to Recall
- Restart Recall when prompted
Grant Microphone Access
This enables real-time audio transcription during meetings and calls.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
- Enable the toggle next to Recall
Grant Accessibility Access
This allows the global hotkey (Option+Space) to work from any app.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility
- Click the + button and add Recall
- Enable the toggle next to Recall
Sign In & Start Using
Press ⌥ Option + Space to toggle Recall and start your first conversation!
Windows Setup
Install the App
Run the installer (.exe) and follow the installation wizard.
Run Recall-Setup.exe → Follow prompts → InstallAllow Microphone Access
Windows will prompt for microphone access on first use.
- Click Allow when Windows asks for microphone permission
- Or go to Settings → Privacy → Microphone to enable manually
Sign In & Start Using
Press Alt + Space to toggle Recall!
Troubleshooting
Hotkey not working?
Make sure Accessibility permissions are enabled (macOS) and that no other app is using the same hotkey. Try restarting Recall.
Screen capture not working?
Ensure Screen Recording permission is granted in System Settings. You may need to restart Recall after granting this permission.
Audio not transcribing?
Check that microphone permission is enabled. Make sure your microphone is selected as the input device in Recall settings.
